Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information The Purr Post collects when you visit our website or email us, why we collect it, who else is involved, and the choices you have. We have written it to be read, not skimmed past.
Effective date: September 21, 2026 | Last updated: September 21, 2026
The short version
- You do not need an account, and we never ask for one.
- If you email us, we use your address only to reply. We never add you to a mailing list.
- We do not sell your personal information for money.
- Advertising partners, including Google, use cookies to show ads. You can turn off personalised ads at any time using the links in section 5.
- Questions or requests about your data go to info@thepurrpost.com.
1.Who we are
The Purr Post (thepurrpost.com) is a cat care publication written for readers in the United States. It is owned and operated by KCS Global Group, a company based in Chhattisgarh, India. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean KCS Global Group as publisher of The Purr Post.
We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can read more about the publication on our About page.
2.Information we collect
We collect very little, and we have deliberately built the site that way. There are no accounts, no logins, no paid subscriptions and no contact forms.
Information you choose to send us
If you email contact@thepurrpost.com or info@thepurrpost.com, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and anything you write in your message. We ask that you do not send sensitive personal information, such as health, financial or identity details, because we do not need it to answer questions about cats.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, when you visit ours some information is collected automatically by our web servers and by the third-party services described below. This can include:
- Your IP address and the approximate location it suggests, such as your country or state
- Your browser type, device type and operating system
- The pages you view, how long you spend on them, and the link that brought you to our site
- Cookie identifiers and similar online identifiers, explained in section 4
We do not knowingly collect precise location, biometric data, or any other sensitive category of personal information.
Comments
If you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name and email address you enter, your comment, and your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. Your email address is never published. Comments may be checked by an automated spam-detection service.
3.How we use information
We use the information described above only for these purposes:
- To reply to you when you email us, including handling correction requests.
- To run and protect the website, including keeping it secure, diagnosing technical problems and blocking spam or abuse.
- To understand what readers find useful, using aggregated statistics about which articles are read, so we can improve and update our content.
- To show advertising that keeps the site free to read, as described in section 5.
- To meet legal obligations, such as responding to a lawful request from authorities.
We do not use your information to build profiles of you ourselves, we do not sell email addresses, and we never send marketing email.
4.Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies include pixels, web beacons and local storage. They let a site, or a service it uses, recognise your browser on a return visit.
| Type | What it does | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keeps the website working securely, for example by protecting it from malicious traffic. | Us and our hosting provider |
| Analytics | Counts visits and shows which pages are read, in aggregated form. | Google Analytics |
| Advertising | Serves ads, limits how often you see the same ad, measures ad performance and may personalise ads based on your browsing. | Google and other ad vendors |
| Affiliate | Records that you arrived at a retailer from one of our links, so we can be credited for a purchase. | Retailers and affiliate networks |
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse all cookies, refuse only third-party cookies, or clear cookies when you close the browser. Blocking cookies will not stop you reading The Purr Post, although you may see less relevant ads.
5.Advertising and Google AdSense
The Purr Post is free to read because it displays advertising. We use Google AdSense to serve ads, and Google may work with other certified ad networks and vendors to fill ad space.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of many third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info and through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
Opting out does not remove ads. It means the ads you see will be based on the page you are reading rather than on your browsing history.
To learn more about how Google handles data when you use a site that shows its ads, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Advertisers have no influence over what we write; see our editorial policy.
6.Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how readers use the site, such as which articles are most read and how visitors arrive. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information like pages viewed, time on page, device type and approximate location. We look at this information in aggregate; we do not use it to identify individual readers.
You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
7.Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links to retailers. If you click one and make a purchase, the retailer or its affiliate network may use cookies to record that the sale came from The Purr Post, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
We do not receive your name, address, payment details or the specific items you buy. Once you leave our site, the retailer’s own privacy policy applies. Our full disclosure is on the affiliate disclosure page.
9.Your rights as a US resident
Depending on the state you live in, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and others with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information we hold about you
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising
- Appeal our decision if we decline your request
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
We extend these choices to every reader regardless of which state you live in. To make a request, email info@thepurrpost.com with the subject line “Privacy request” and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to confirm your identity, usually by replying to the email address the request came from. We will respond within 45 days. You may also use an authorised agent, who will need to show us your written permission.
Because we do not run accounts, the main personal information we hold is email correspondence. Information collected by Google and other advertising vendors through cookies is controlled by those companies, so the fastest way to manage it is through the opt-out tools in section 5.
10.Visitors outside the United States
The Purr Post is written for US readers, but anyone can visit. Because our team is based in India and several of our service providers, including Google, operate in the United States and elsewhere, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection rules.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before advertising cookies are used to personalise ads, and you have rights under applicable law to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal information and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Where we rely on a legal basis for processing, it is your consent for advertising cookies, and our legitimate interest in running and securing the site and replying to your messages.
As a publisher based in India, we also process personal data in line with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
11.How long we keep information
- Emails are kept for as long as we need them to answer your question or deal with a correction, and are then deleted. Correspondence about corrections may be kept longer as a record of changes we made to published articles.
- Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted automatically.
- Cookies expire on the schedule set by the company that placed them, or earlier if you delete them from your browser.
If you ask us to delete your emails sooner, we will, unless we are legally required to keep them.
12.Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections to our website, access to our inboxes limited to members of our team who need it, and keeping our software up to date.
No website or email system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires us to.
13.Children’s privacy
The Purr Post is written for adult cat owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, email info@thepurrpost.com and we will delete it.
14.Do Not Track signals
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal to websites. Because there is no agreed industry standard for how to respond to these signals, our website does not currently change its behaviour when it receives one. You can still control advertising cookies using your browser settings and the opt-out tools in section 5.
15.Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change, for example if we add a new advertising partner or a new way to contact us. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always shows when it was last changed. If a change significantly affects how we use personal information, we will make that clear on this page.
